Wedding Guest: Meaghan of District Sparkle

A certain someone with impending nuptials is hosting a black tie affair this weekend & whether you’re a pro at doing your hair or don’t even own a brush, you can’t get away with any old hairstyle for one of these events. So today we’re talking heck yes’, hell no’s, my favorites & wrapping it with a tutorial!

In my opinion, black tie is never the time to experiment with something that you haven’t test run beforehand. It’s not the time for boring, stringy locks, nor a mane that looks like you’ve just come from the gym. I prefer a cleanswept look & some variation of an updo. It’ll keep your tresses out of your face, stay in place while you dance the night away, & look polished no matter what the function throws your way.

These are a few looks I’m currently crushing on…

& a variation of one I’ve been known to sport on most black tie occasions…

A Lacey Perspective: Like a Glove

Red Kennedy Gown {c/o Carolina Herrera via Rent the Runway}

Above is what I wore to Ball on the Mall Saturday night. I had such a blast at this unbelievably unique event and was so sad to send this amaze Carolina Herrera Red Kennedy Gown back to Rent the Runway. This beauty was made for me: red, dramatic bow, pockets and it fit like a glove!

This will be my last post here on ALP until after my wedding (this Sat… eek) but I will be leaving my blog to some of my wedding guests you may recognize. ;)

Currently the weather says 40% chance of rain for my big day… so feel free to cross fingers and toes, say a little prayer, etc for me that the rain stays away.

Here is to my gown THIS Saturday fitting like a glove better then the one above.

xoxo,
Last Post As A Single Gal …Lacey

PS
Rent the Runway just launched a killer Bridal Accessories option. Wish this was in existence when I  was accessory shopping. Check it out here!

ALP Consulting Launch

When I started this blog I had no idea what a roller-coaster ride I was in for. All I wanted to do was inspire and be inspired, and it turned into so much more.

When I officially LLC-ed A Lacey Perspective I had aspirations of doing more then just the blog but was always nervous to take the plunge into more than daily outfit posts.
ALP Consulting Launch

After a handful of clients, emails from readers and months of writing and rewriting my menu of services, I am ready to share with my lovely ALP readers that ALP Consulting is ready to work with you.

My most recent client was the oh-so-sweet Katrina.

Katrina was looking for “Lacey’s Perspective on Your Closet” so she can find more options in her wardrobe for fun, yet sophisticated looks for her 9-5 gig on Capitol Hill. I had an absolute blast getting to know her and helping her start to see her closet differently.

ALP Consulting Launch

Here is what Katrina said about her experience:

“What I’m most appreciative for during my session with Lacey is that she took the time to get to know me before even opening my closet. By understanding what I needed from my everyday wardrobe, she taught me how to piece together outfits that are professional, yet eye-catching and unique — and I couldn’t be more thrilled!” -Katrina

The deets:
You must be available to attend the ball on Saturday, May 4, 2013.
Tickets include open bar, dancing, and a reception buffet from 8-11:30 p.m.
This is a black tie affair, so you and your guest should dress for the occasion!
Must be 21 years or older to enter.
Transportation to and from the event is not provided.
One entry per person.
Giveaway ends Thursday at 11:59 p.m.

How to Enter:

ALP & Sony

…and we are back with some more pics I snapped with my Sony NEX-5R for The Unedited campaign. If you missed my first 5 you can see them here.

I will continue to share more of the pics throughout the next couple weeks and share with you a fun next step in the campaign where you may or may not be able to see all 50 of my pics on a larger scale. ;)

What do you think of my pics so far? Can you believe the clarity that this tiny camera creates!?

ALP & Sony

As a self-professed “photographer wannabe” I was so pumped when Sony asked me to give their NEX 5R a spin. The camera is sooooo tiny and the quality of these pictures are equal to my DSLR. Although still hesitant to make the complete switch from the DSLR I know and have grown to love, this camera by the end of this just may have convinced me to make the switch. It fits in my smaller purses, very light, large touch screen and built in wifi!? How does a gal on the move not love that?

Below is a peek at what I have taken so far. These pictures are completely unedited and from right off the camera, hence the name of Sony’s campaign… Unedited.A Lacey Perspective: ALP & SonyA Lacey Perspective: ALP & SonyA Lacey Perspective: ALP & SonyA Lacey Perspective: ALP & SonyA Lacey Perspective: ALP & Sony I will continue to share more of the pics throughout the next couple weeks!

Have a fab weekend!

Lacey’s Perspective: Skin Care

I have been struggling with my skin for a good chunk of my teen and young adult life. Now that my wedding is around the corner there is no time for experiments I need something that works… and I think I have found it.
One important part of my routine is a monthly facial that includes some variety of a peel to help resurface my skin. This has actually made more of a difference then I ever thought. The more consistently I go the more I see less scaring, discoloration, etc.
Lucky for me, BlueMercury reached out and asked if I would like to try their “You Glow Girl Facial“. As one easily persuaded by marketing, I had to give this remarkably adorable named facial a try.
Bluemercury spa treatment room
The facial was absolutely delicious. I actually walked out of the room glowing… no really. This is by far my new favorite facial. Also, lucky for my DC area readers, BlueMercury has opened a store in Alexandria, VA (600 King St. Alexandria, VA 23314) in addition to the two other DC locations.
After walking out of the room I knew I had to walk away with the m-61 Lip Scrub. It is fantastic on my dry winter lips. I highly recommend it.
M-61 Group Shot PREFERRED
Now let’s get to my daily routine. Before I share it, I want you to know that I found what works for me, but I  am by no means an expert and each persons skin reacts differently to different routines/products. My skin is classified as combination, sensitive skin.
ALP: Skin Care

Clarisonic Mia | Kiehl’s Facial Cleanser | Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Masque | Kiehl’s Facial Cream | Kiehl’s Re-texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion

Daily: Clarisonic twice a day with the Facial Cleanser and moisturize with the Facial Cream at night.

Weekly: Once a week I use the Masque and Re-Texturizing Cream (not at the same time, of course).

The routine is actually very simple and I have started to realize that none of the really wacky, out-of-this-world face products work on my skin, my skin wants a simple, gentle routine.

I am still learning about my skin but am feeling more confident every day as I see changes. What is your routine and what works for you?

BlueMercury provided a complimentary facial and did not compensate me for my review. All other products mentioned and opinions are my own.

Rent Inaugural Style

Last week I was on Fox 5 DC rocking and discussing some of the most beautiful gowns with Rent the Runway! I had such a blast trying on all of their options (talk about a kid in a candy store) for their Pre-Inaugural pop-up shop they held last weekend. As a gal who is lucky enough to attend the Inauguration, Staff Ball and Inaugural Ball; I had my eyes wide open for the perfect gowns for my nights as Cinderella.

I am wearing one of the three dresses I donned on air for the Inaugural Ball. Which one do you think it is?
