I can’t get enough of stripes, white nail polish or my short hair in messy waves theses days. My shorter hair is finally growing on me and I feel like it gives old pieces in my closet a whole new look.

A Lacey Perspective: Namaste

Let’s all say hello to no makeup, no heels (this shorty does not like to be heel-less) and freckle-faced Lacey!

Reality of my many freckles aside, I have been asked constantly how I got in shape for my wedding day… and my answer was always yoga. As a former dancer who had to stop dancing due to a knee in jury, yoga has been the only place that my body can have a good, hard workout without limping in pain afterwards.

Before I got married I would have to trek through the cold and snow to get to my classes, but now that it is summer I love heading to the outdoor yoga classes in the various parks in DC. Talk about a heated yoga class!

Now that we are heading into bikini season I cannot stop my routine now. So I shoot for 2-3 classes a week (a lighter version of before my wedding day). What is your workout routine?

A Lacey Perspective: Desk to Drinks

Taking this yummy yellow dress from my desk to drinks was a synch. To keep warm in my chilly office I tossed on my distressed denim jacket and grabbed my go-to carry-all Phillip Lim bag to help carry my pieces to change for drinks.

To stroll through the golden hour to head to happy hour I tossed on a sparkly statement necklace and swapped my bag for something with a bit of punch and my shoes for something a bit more fun. One last tiny detail is that I remove my watch when I head to cocktails. Call me old-fashioned but I think a watch is meant for the day, when you are needing to keep track of time. But when it is time to kick back and have a martini or four, I say opt for a more delicate looking wrist party and remove the oversized watch.

Lastly, thank you all so so much for all of the love regarding my 8 inch post-wedding hair chop! Speaking of wedding, today is exactly one month since I got married! Wow, time really does fly when you are having fun. Cannot wait to share my wedding pics with you all!

I have worn this dress at least a dozen times and have yet to share it on the blog. This surprised me because I constantly reach for it when I have a work event or cocktail party. I mean… nude faux leather dress for spring? Yes, please!

Sometimes I like to add pops of color, or bold accessories, to add some pizzaz to the dress but my favorite way to wear it is shades of nude from head to toe.

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and, oh… I chopped off 8 inches of my hair. ;)

With this summer heat I am willing to try anything to stay cool while still looking chic. You saw me give crop tops a try yesterday and today I am playing with a black bra under a sheer top. I must say, I don’t hate it.

Summer arrived in DC with a vengeance this past week: 90 degree weather, muggy and no breeze at all. So what’s the best way to make the most of this hot weather? Try out a new trend and go grab frozen margaritas.

As soon as crop tops came back onto the scene I instantly thought I could never pull that off with my body type. After pinning many pictures of others looking fabulous and scrolling through the internet day-in and day-out looking for the perfect crop top, I think I have found the best one for me.

I’m not saying that crop tops are for everyone, or that you are going to see me in crop tops on the regular now, but I am saying that it is worth a shot. You may surprise yourself, as I did, that you can make any trend work for you as long as you make it YOURS. Feminine, a full skirt to balance out my full chest, and a more retro cut is what makes this trend work for me.

Caftans are the perfect coverup. Lightweight, colorful and just the perfect amount of coverage for when there is a cool breeze I knew that I needed to add to my collection before my honeymoon comes around. This one from Island Company may not be enough, I think this beauty is next.

You know that time you went to Target to get one simple thing from the housewares section and came out with over $100 in clothing, accessories and shoes? Yeah. That happens to me every time. Every. Single. Time.

Target is my go-to for my summer weekend uniform: maxi dresses and sandals. I like to know that just in case I am clumsy and rip the bottom of my dress (which is always), or just in case I spill my wine (which is almost always), or even scratch my shoes to the point of not being able to know its original color (which is often), that I am not ruining a really expensive piece of my wardrobe that if possibly even creased the wrong way would make me wince in pain.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love a good designer shoe or bag as much as the next fashionista. But I must admit there is nothing better than a good outfit that your wallet doesn’t mind either.

FYI – Target in no way asked/paid me to write about this, I just constantly find myself spending more money than I should in Target and wanted to make sure I wasn’t alone in this dilemma.
