A Lacey Perspective: Everyday Black BagFrom Left to Right:
Bayswater Leather Tote {Mulberry} | Pashli Large Tote {Phillip Lim} | 31 Hour Bag {Philip Lim} | Rockstud Leather Trapesse Bag {Valentino} | Leather Tote {Sophie Hulme}

I am still madly in love with my nude Pashli 3.1 Phillip Lim Satchel. It has been the perfect bag all 365 days of the year, no matter the season.

I think it is now time to add a quality black designer bag to my arsenal so that Phil (the name of my Pashli) has a friend and I have options. The chosen bag must fit the following criteria:

  1. Fit my laptop (13 inch MacBook Air).
  2. Have a long strap whether already there or attachable.
  3. Structured. (I have never been one for floppy/slouchy bags.)
  4. Classic.
  5. In season/style all year long.

As you can probably tell from my many Wednesday Wish Lists, I am leaning towards the Sophie Hulme because it has all of the above criteria and is not a common “fashionista bag”. The close second is the Mulberry for its timeless look, but I am not sure its straps are long enough for me to put over my shoulder.

I need y’alls help… Which bag do you think I should get? Do you own either of the above and have an opinion?

Thank you for all of your help in advance!

xoxo

I own the Mulberry and I love, love, love it. It will never go out of style. I’ve had it for five years and it still looks amazing. You can get it over your shoulder, but I think it looks a little strange. It’s really meant to be worn on the arm. You could fit your laptop no problem. I get tons of complements on it. I have never regretted getting it. :)

Yeah but it’s the same story with my Phillip Lim. No long straps. When you commute by foot and not in a car it makes a big difference. But I do love that bag.

Yeah but it’s the same story with my other bag. No long straps. When you commute by foot and not in a car it makes a big difference. But I do love that bag.

I understand that this is a big purchase, but do you think it’s wise to ask your readers for advice on which $1,000 purse you should buy? I don’t think most of them would be knowledgeable on which one is best, because most of them probably can’t afford something in that price range. I’m actually a bit offended by this post.

I am sorry you are offended, that is of course not my purpose of this post. I mostly wrote this post because I have been doing research on all of these bags for quite some time and wanted to share that knowledge with my readers in case they too are pondering a purchase. Also, I wanted to see if anyone owns one of these bags for their opinions (which several do and have been commenting).

Thanks for your comment!
