If you follow me over on Instagram you know that I shared that my best friend and (just shy of) 16 year old pug, Lucy, had to be put down. To be completely honest writing this out in black and white has tears streaming down my face. It just doesn’t feel real. I struggled to figure out how to move forward with my partnership with BJ’s Wholesale Club because part of it is about my fur babies (and of course the other half about their killer beauty/health options). I wasn’t sure how to keep writing about my pugs without her in my life. But then as I started to think about ways to move forward one question kept nagging me… Have I really introduced Tyler to my ALP family? The answer is no, not really. So let’s get to know Tyler while always remembering Princess Lucille Zoey (she came with that name) …
Name: Tyler Ricky Faeh
He came with the name Tyler and I wasn’t a fan of it. I really wanted a male pug and name him Ricky so he can be the “Lucy i’m hoooooome.” to my Lucy. So, I made his nickname Ricky.
Nicknames: Ricky, Poop, Moop, Ty Ty, My Ty, He’s So, Mi Amor
Adoption Story: About 3 years ago I had received an email in a Google Group (Remember those?) and the subject line said, “Free Pug”. So obviously I opened it. It said that he has had four homes, they think he is 5 years old, “speaks Spanish” and desperately needs a forever home. Of course, I responded instantly without even telling James. We were not in the market for a new dog at all but his story really pulled at my heart strings. After sending 3 emails and begging to get him asap (before I changed my mind) I got a response that said I can come get him. I was scared and excited at the same time. What will James think? Will Lucy respond well to a new dog? None of that mattered because it just felt right.
The day James and I went to pick him up he ran to us and up into our friend’s car. He and Lucy interacted with no problem and the rest is three years of history.
Birthday: June 7th (the day we received him)
Age: 8 Years Old
Favorite Person: His daddy.
Training Language: Spanish. He only understands commands in Spanish and we love it. It really speaks to his personality.
Favorite Dog Food: BJ’s Exclusive Berkley Jensen All Natural Chicken and Brown Rice Holistic Recipe for Dogs, 16 lbs. I love the convenience of buying this extra-large bag at BJ’s Wholesale Club so Tyler can keep his girlish, chunky figure all year ’round.
Favorite Human Food: Popcorn
Favorite Treats: BJ’s Berkley Jensen All Natural Large Dog Biscuits, 14 lbs. When we switched to BJ’s Biscuits Tyler works even harder for his treats. They are the perfect size for him and clearly, he is a fan.
Favorite Activity: Doing absolutely nothing, snuggling on something soft and having the parents close by.
Favorite Command: Besos. Which means kiss in Spanish.
