I need to say right off the bat that I really struggled with hitting the publish button on this one.

When the ever-so-talented team of Ana B MakeUp and Alumbra Photography reached out to me to see if I would be interested in a fun little project (more on that later) I jumped at the chance. But as I began to do some research on their work I realized that gorgeous, classy boudoir shoots were their expertise and passion. My initial reaction was that I had to ask them if they would be open to doing one with me (I have always wanted to do it for the husband before the wedding as a gift but never built up the courage) …and they instantly said yes. In typical Lacey fashion I began to question my decision and eagerness to be so vulnerable in front of the camera. No big sunglasses to shield my sleepy eyes and no sequin skirt to distract you from my body insecurities.

Insecurities. We all have them. Yes even the girls who put themselves out there every day (AKA bloggers) to let you judge the way they look and what they wear. Mine you ask? My chest and my thighs. Both abnormally large for a girl my size and constantly the first things I look to camouflage in my outfit posts.

After gorgeous make up thanks to Ana, wrapping myself in one of my husbands work shirts, and a comfortable atmosphere with Susannah I took a deep breath and went for it. Well, here is a peek into my boudoir shoot. I, of course, saved most of them for husband and I to enjoy but I wanted to make sure that some of Ana and Susannah‘s gorgeous work was shared…

Ana and Susannah have put together an amazing boudoir package deal just in time for Valentines Day! Run don’t walk…

Lacey, Kudos to you for having the courage to take these photos. I have always struggled with my body and I didn’t do outfit shots for a long time because of that struggle. You are beautiful and the photos are beautiful!

You look so beautiful Lacey!!…I do have a large chest too and I’ve always been insecure about it. What brand of bras do you wear? Please, I will appreciate it if you provide that information.

I applaud your courage 100%. You look gorgeous! And yes, we all have insecurities. We all have flaws, we all own mirrors so there’s no hiding them. Though sometimes our own eyes see things that others don’t. Or at least don’t judge as hard as we do. Yes, your a curvy girl, but what looks to be perfectly proportioned. Not everyone is meant to be a size 2 and very straight up & down or as some refer to it as, boyish shape. Looks as though, you let down your guard, looked the camera dead-on and allowed your beauty to shine through. Wonderful job by the photographer but even better job was done by the model.

Bravo! We all have our insecurities, but way to go for confronting them straight on and reveling yourself in such a vulnerable way. I truly applaud you my friend. And I just have to say you look like a hot mama right here!! I’m sure James is loving the whole book! ;)

I had the same struggle with my boudoir shots right before my wedding and I struggle with the same insecurities over the size of my chest. As an Asian, we’re supposed to be small boned and pretty cleavage-less. Kind of tough to achieve that at a 36E!

You look gorgeous! I think we all have our insecurities that we focus on. This is a great way to capture you feeling your most beautiful! xo

Loved this post for so many reasons! Of course you looked gorgeous but the fact that you put yourself out there makes it even more great. None of us are perfect and being able to embrace our “imperfections” is a struggle. Being afraid of being judged makes it even harder. The blazer shot was my absolute fave!

Oops, I hit send too quickly. But yes, they are classy and beautiful. You look fantastic! Just think how much you’ll love theses pictures when you look back on them in years to come. I often find when I look at pictures, even from just a few years ago, I see myself from a new perspective- a kinder, gentler perspective. You did great :-)
