J and I like to do what we call “suburbia day” once a month normally on a Saturday or Sunday. This is our day to rent a ZipCar, head out to the suburbs of DC and shop at all the places we can’t in the city. Old Navy, Bed Bath and Beyond, Best Buy, Trader Joes and of course stop at a ChickFilA. Yup. Good ‘ole fashioned suburbia. While on our suburban adventure I had to stop at Old Navy (since I have not been inside of one for years) and I grabbed a lot of amazing stuff. They really are knocking it out of the park this season.

This sunny dress was a perfect addition to my ever-growing maxi dress collection.

Suburbia was good to us. Until next month suburbia…

This dress is so cheerful! Between the color (yellow! so happy!) and the price (seriously, $20?!), I think I need to buy this. Yes, must buy. Thanks for the recommendation!

I think your trip to the suburbs was not only unnecessary, but fetisishizes an unsustainable lifestyle in the name of conspicuous consumption. There are two bed, bath. beyonds in the city, as well as two best buys. One of each in columbia heights, BB&B in chinatown, and a best buy in tenleytown. there’s a trader joes in the West End on 25th St, and a chick fil a at catholic university, there used to be one at GW too but it closed this past summer. there is also one in downtown silver spring, if you consider that the suburbs I don’t know. OK there is no Old Navy in the city proper, but using a car isn’t necessary, there is an Old Navy proximate to the Prince Georges Plaza metro station, and when they finally install the Potomac Yards stop on the blue line, or complete the silver line to tysons you can go to Old Navy in VA without a car.

I completely understand your confusion and I am well aware that most of these places are here in DC (and if not will be accessible in the future).

We were purchasing very large items (ie. comforter, pillows, etc) that are much easier to get/carry when you have a car. Also, we love that we can drive outside of the hustle and bussle of the city and get everything we need in one quick stop.

Thanks for your concern. ;)

I for one love a good trip to suburbia, you can’t beat one stop shopping that includes target, old navy, bed bath and beyond, maybe a starbucks and of course the obligatory stop at Chick-fil-a. I went out to Alexandria friday night and hit up several big box store stops. I totally agree, Old Navy is killing it right now with their maxi dresses!

Love this outfit and that sounds like so much fun! I often do this when I go home to long island. There’s something about driving to the different shops that makes life just so much easier.
