From a chilly evening to a warm day, spring may be beautiful but man does it do a number on my seasonal allergies. I know you must be thinking “Why is Lacey talking about allergies on ALP?” and the answer is because taking care of yourself during allergy season is what will let all of your beauty products do their job better. So let’s get to it…
Get a Good Night’s Sleep – Yes, I know a bit obvious but this is the number one way to combat anything. Now more than ever as the seasons are changing you need to get yourself into a healthy sleep routine.
Drink Lots of Tea – I have a cup of tea minimum a day during the peaks of allergy season. Specifically green tea. Green Tea helps fight the sneezing, coughing and watery eyes caused by colds and allergies. Licorice Root has anti-inflammatory properties and anti-allergy effects and is known for its relief on irritated respiratory passages. The anti-inflammatory properties help with inflamed skin as well. Helping your health and natural beauty from the inside out.
Take the Right Medication – Just grabbing your nearest allergy medication at the bottom of your bathroom drawer will not do. You have to make sure you are taking the right medication for the right symptoms. Since my husband and I are both highly allergic to season change (and cats) we always keep a large stock of allergy medication. We get our must haves at BJ’s Wholesale and stock up and save on trusted allergy relief brands including Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra, Flonase and Benadryl.
Wet Heat & Moisturizing – To combat those pesky itchy eyes or headaches I always reach for a damp hot towel. Want to open up those nasal passages? Take a long hot bath. I like to add anything mint scented as well. Lastly, moisturize. If you want your makeup to continue to smooth right over your skin and not cake by your nose after constantly blowing your nose make sure you are using your best moisturizer morning and night.
