Top DC Wine Bars

The other day I had a lovely dinner with my Ribera del Duero and Rueda family (highly suggest their Protos Crianza 2013 Tempranillo) and it reminded me how much I truly love wine and the specifics that make it come to life. I could talk hours about terroir, what the weather was the like the year the wine was harvested, etc. I truly am fascinated by the process. Then it reminded me how I haven’t yet shared here on ALP my favorite wine bars in DC…

Cork Wine Bar (1805 14th Street NW)

This staple in the DC wine scene has moved to a bigger and better home (across the street from their old space), but the incredible wine list is still in tact. Since 2008 their selection of at least 50 wines by the glass and 250 bottles from small producers around the world has had Washingtonians running to them day in and day out.

La Jambe (1550 7th Street NW)

A somewhat new to the scene wine bar has truly captured my heart. They are, dare I say, my favorite wine bar to date. The atmosphere, the music and the unbelievably knowledgeable staff makes this french inspired wine bar a hit in THE hot spot that is Shaw.

Maxwell Park (1336 9th Street NW)

The newest wine bar to the city has had young winos flocking. From the modern style to the monthly themes to a killer wine list, Maxwell has become the new it wine bar in DC.

The Pursuit Wine Bar (1421 H Street NE)

I just visited this place for the first time the other day and it instantly made a new regular. $15 create your own flights?! Yes please.

Flight Wine Bar (777 9th Street NW)

Opened back in 2014 Flight Wine Bar focuses on small, family-owned estates, and lesser known varietals and regions. My wino brain was stumped by the list but the staff was so knowledgeable and helped push my pallette.
