If you asked me when I first started blogging for beauty/makeup advice I would have literally busted out laughing. Over the last five years I have learned so much about beauty/makeup, and I would say I feel rather comfortable with my routine.

I’m excited to share with you my partnership with Ulta to show you how I beat the heat with my makeup routine in the summer.

I always start with a clean slate before putting makeup on. I use toner to even my skin tone and then moisturize with Renewed Hope in a Jar. Next, especially in the summer, I use Smashbox Photo Finish Primer before my foundation.A Lacey Perspective: Beat the Heat Makeup Routine

My favorite long-lasting, medium coverage foundation is Smashbox Studio Skin. It lasts all day no matter how much sweating ensues. But what has been the REAL game changer for me when it comes to my foundation is using a Blending Sponge. Before you put on your choice of foundation onto the sponge, make sure you get the sponge damp (not too wet) so that it doesn’t soak up the foundation (we don’t want to waste foundation now do we?). Then pat on all over your face and neck for an even, matte look and blend blend blend. I promise you this sponge will be a game changer for the way your makeup spreads on your skin. I will never go back to foundation brushes again.A Lacey Perspective: Beat the Heat Makeup Routine

After you complete your look (whether that is just foundation and mascara or a whole face of makeup) I highly suggest using Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. Make sure you spray it AT LEAST 8 inches from your face or it feels super wet and give it about one minute to dry. Last but not least, have a good ‘ole pop of color on your nails to show off that tan. My current favorites are from the OPI Best of Summer Nail Collection!A Lacey Perspective: Beat the Heat Makeup Routine
